Columbus Alzheimer Care Center
is now part of the Peregrine
Health Services family of
Ohio-based health care centers.
Peregrine is a privately held
company – not a national chain.
Our corporate and senior leaders
are seasoned professionals with
a wealth of first-hand experience
in nursing, rehabilitation,
Alzheimer’s and long-term care.
They are a regular presence
within our center and are
directly involved in the decisions
that impact the care and
well-being of our residents.
Peregrine is committed to each
of the communities we serve,
continually investing in the
people, the facilities and the
programs we offer. The result
is a uniquely hometown
approach to the delivery of the
most advanced sub-acute and
long-term care services available.
A Distinguished History of Care
In 1991, the Columbus Alzheimer Care Center opened its doors as
Central Ohio’s first facility solely dedicated to the medical, emotional and
spiritual needs of those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and their families.
The center was supported through legislation passed in Ohio in 1986 that
paved the way for development of such solely dedicated centers for those
with Alzheimer’s and other dementia related disorders.
A not-for-profit organization known as the Columbus Alzheimer’s Treatment
and Research Institute, in affiliation with The Ohio State University’s College
of Medicine, developed the Columbus Alzheimer Care Center under the
guidance of Dr. Leopold Liss, a professor of neurology at Ohio State.
Dr. Liss, an internationally recognized expert in the field of Alzheimer’s disease,
continues to this day to serve as the center’s Medical Director.
