It is in the active inresidence area that the advantages of our center become most apparent.
Here residents in the early stages of dementia constructively interact with caregivers
and each other. Every aspect of the area has been designed to create a close-knit
community atmosphere. This becomes their home. This neighborhood style area consists
of four wings with private and semi-private rooms. The entry ways to individual rooms
are clearly marked for easy recognition and we encourage the displaying of personal
mementos to evoke positive, pleasant memories. All beds are positioned so that each
individual can be better aware of his or her immediate surroundings at a glance and can
maintain a sense of security.
It is important to note that we also offer a more traditional hallway style wing in
addition to our neighborhood style wing. When a resident comes to us, we carefully
assess medical records and family input to determine which wing is most appropriate
for the individual resident.
Each wing is adjacent to a large, open area where all daily activities are conducted.
This great room has been designed to accommodate a wide variety of therapeutic
activities as well as family style dining. In this area, residents encounter familiar faces
daily and no surprises

Our center is designed with the utmost attention to safety. We believe we have taken
every measure within reason to ensure the well-being of our residents and provide a sense
of peace of mind to their families. Some of the more noticeable features include a tasteful
barrier which encompasses the campus grounds, a highly sophisticated security system
specifically designed for the unique demands of Alzheimer’s resident housing, smoke
detectors in every room, a sprinkler system, automatic fire doors, a completely smoke-free
environment and 24-hour staffing.
As a skilled nursing facility, the Columbus Alzheimer Care Center can provide a continuum
of care at every stage of disease progression. |
